Role Description

The Sim Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Tampa Bay Area, supporting simulation-based teaching and learning within the University of Tampa’s academic programs. This position prepares, sets up, operates and maintains simulation equipment, manikins and related technologies to ensure realistic clinical and laboratory scenarios for learners. The Sim Technician collaborates with faculty and staff to configure rooms, test equipment, load scenarios, and provide technical support before, during and after simulation sessions.

Day-to-day responsibilities include troubleshooting hardware and software issues, managing inventory of supplies and consumables, and assisting with the scheduling and coordination of simulation activities. The role also involves documenting equipment usage, supporting data capture and reporting, and contributing to continuous improvement of simulation operations and learner experience.

Qualifications
  • Technical proficiency in operating and maintaining simulation equipment, manikins, audiovisual systems and related software.
  • Skills in troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and supporting users with basic IT and technical needs.
  • Ability to organize, schedule and coordinate simulation sessions, manage supplies and maintain orderly lab environments.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with faculty, staff and students in an academic setting.
  • Attention to detail in equipment setup, scenario preparation, documentation and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., healthcare, simulation, technology, or related discipline) preferred.
  • Experience in a clinical, laboratory, or educational simulation environment is beneficial.
  • Ability to stand, move equipment, and perform tasks that may require moderate physical effort within lab and classroom spaces.
