Job Description
Location: Tampa, FL (On-Site)
Pay: $25–$35 per hour
We are seeking an experienced Legal Assistant – Medical Malpractice (Defense) for a direct placement opportunity with a well-established, AV-rated law firm in Tampa. This role supports a busy Medical Malpractice Defense group and offers sophisticated clients, meaningful work, and a collaborative, professional environment.
Position OverviewThe Legal Assistant will provide comprehensive support to five attorneys (2 shareholders and 3 associates) within the Medical Malpractice group. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced setting, is highly organized, and brings strong defense-side medical malpractice experience.
Plaintiff medical malpractice experience may be considered; however, defense experience is strongly preferred due to potential conflict considerations.
Key Responsibilities- Provide high-level administrative and case support to multiple attorneys
- Manage complex calendars, court deadlines, and scheduling
- Coordinate meetings, hearings, and case-related events
- Prepare, proofread, and organize legal documents and correspondence
- Maintain and manage case files (electronic and physical)
- Assist with additional administrative and litigation-related tasks as needed
- Minimum 3 years of medical malpractice experience (defense preferred)
- Proven experience supporting multiple attorneys in a fast-paced legal environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Professional demeanor with a client-focused mindset
- Demonstrated initiative and analytical thinking
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
