The Paralegal will support The Performance Lab’s legal department. This role focuses on the management of medical/legal matters and coordinating and communicating with various insurance carriers in compliance with healthcare and legal regulations.

The ideal candidate must have experience working in a fast-paced environment, and is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing sensitive legal and medical information.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and support the PIP department.
  • Review, organize, and maintain medical records, billing documentation, and legal files.
  • Draft and prepare legal correspondence.
  • Coordinate with attorneys, insurance adjusters, healthcare providers, and patients.
  • Track deadlines for PIP claims, litigation, and statutory requirements.
  • Assist with preparation of responses to subpoenas.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, Florida PIP regulations, and applicable legal standards.
  • Support lien management, record requests, and settlement documentation.
  • Maintain accurate case notes, status updates, and document management systems.
  • Conduct legal and medical research as needed.
  • Assist in leadership with compliance, risk management, and special projects.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Registered Paralegal certification (Florida Registered Paralegal preferred).
  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in a medical-legal, personal injury, or PIP environment.
  • Knowledge of Florida PIP laws, medical billing, and legal documentation processes.
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA and confidentiality requirements.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • High level of discretion when handling confidential medical and legal information.
Preferred
  • Experience working with healthcare providers, clinics, or therapy practices.
  • Familiarity with case management or legal software systems.
  • Experience in preparing demand packages or litigation support documents.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Knowledge of PIP and med-legal workflows
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Confidentiality and professionalism
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines
