Job Description & How to Apply Below

Leverage your legal experience beyond the strict practice of law. Help other attorneys meet their professional and personal goals. Experience meaningful work as part of a supportive team. And stop stressing over billable hours! Does this sound appealing to you? If so, Latitude is seeking a Director of Recruiting & Placement to support our Tampa Bay / Central Florida region. Help in-house counsel, law firm attorneys, paralegals, and legal operations professionals find satisfying, engaging and often life‑changing positions – without pulling any more all‑nighters or tracking your life in six‑minute increments.

If you’re detail‑oriented, thrive working remotely, and enjoy building relationships and closing deals that benefit everyone involved, this could be the perfect role for you.

The successful candidate must communicate well (in person and in writing) and have a genuine curiosity for what makes others tick and thrive. If you are looking to make the switch over to the business side of law and want a job full of meaning, we would like to meet you!

Primary Responsibilities
  • Source and conduct initial screen of top‑level attorney and paralegal candidates for consulting engagements and permanent positions with leading companies and law firms in Tampa Bay and other areas (e.g. general counsel, chief compliance officer, senior corporate counsel & other in‑house roles, and partner, counsel and associate‑level roles at corporate law firms).
  • Communicate with references to ascertain candidates’ strengths and weaknesses.
  • Effectively select and propose best‑matching candidates for submissions to Latitude clients.
  • Coordinate and schedule candidate interviews and conduct any necessary pre‑interview preparation with candidates.
  • Effectively manage candidate engagements and various administrative tasks related to candidate engagements (SOWs, time approvals, etc.).
  • Assist in the development and operation of creative sourcing, assessment, placement, and onboarding processes.
  • Nurture positive relationships with Latitude’s attorney/paraprofessional team through ongoing communications, social media, social events, and professional development activities.
  • Work as part of a cohesive, collaborative team that is highly responsive to its candidates, colleagues, clients, and other professionals.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a practicing attorney, preferably in a corporate law firm or in‑house setting, or prior experience as a legal recruiter.
  • Strong client service skills, including the ability to communicate (both orally and in writing) at a high level with sophisticated law firm and corporate legal department clients and attorneys to determine client needs and attorney qualifications.
  • Dependable, detail‑oriented, very organized, capable of using document management and database management software programs, highly discreet, high integrity, and a total team player.
  • As this position is with a fast‑growing, agile company, the successful applicant must be highly flexible and able to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Ability to effectively use social media, online recruiting tools and in‑person networking to source new candidates and market open positions.
  • Demonstrated active involvement in professional associations and activities is highly preferred (e.g. local, state and national bar associations, Association of Corporate Counsel, Inn of Court, etc.).
  • Ability to identify priorities and pivot or adjust focus work as appropriate.
  • This is a full‑time professional position that offers a flexible schedule but does require the ability to communicate with colleagues, clients, and candidates in a timely fashion, including sometimes responding to emails and calls during evenings and on weekends.
  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Stellar references.
