Master Scheduler ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

BUSINESS:
Leslie Controls, Inc.

LOCATION:

Tampa, FL

DIRECT REPORTING:
Senior Manager, Operational Planning & Control

POSITION DETAILS Position Summary

The Master Scheduler owns the integrated production schedule and is the authoritative source for when and in what sequence work runs across manufacturing work centers. In a high-mix, low-volume environment, this role converts customer commitments, routings, material readiness and finite capacity into an executable schedule that protects on-time delivery while maximizing throughput, bottleneck utilization and overall flow.

Principal Activities
  • Own, maintain and publish the Master Production Schedule and detailed work-center schedules across the defined planning horizon.
  • Translate backlog, customer due dates, routings, standards, readiness and available labor/equipment capacity into a realistic finite-capacity schedule.
  • Sequence work to balance OTD, bottleneck protection, setup/changeover efficiency, queue time and WIP across shared constrained resources.
  • Establish and enforce schedule time fences and change-control rules so Production operates to one stable, visible priority sequence.
  • Level-load work across qualified resources, identify future overloads and recommend recovery actions such as resequencing, alternate resources, overtime, subcontracting or pull-ahead.
  • Coordinate with Planners, Buyers and Warehouse/Logistics so material allocation, staging, receiving priorities and WIP movement support the published schedule.
  • Incorporate tooling, CNC programs, fixtures, inspection, engineering, quality and other readiness dependencies into schedule feasibility.
  • Rapidly re-plan for shortages, NCRs/rework, job holds, equipment downtime, staffing constraints or inaccurate routing/standard data while minimizing downstream impact.
  • Lead daily Production reviews with cross-functional stakeholders, identifying constraints, recovery actions, near-term priorities and decisions required.
  • Measure schedule attainment and causes of misses; use the data to improve planning parameters, lead times, resource calendars, routing standards and scheduling discipline.
  • Support longer-range operations/SIOP planning by translating demand into capacity requirements and identifying future bottlenecks.
  • Serve as the scheduling subject-matter expert and maintain clear decision rules that reduce informal expediting and priority conflicts.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Expert knowledge of master scheduling, finite-capacity scheduling, production control and work-center dispatching in manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated ability to schedule high-mix, low-volume work across variable routings, shared constraints, alternate resources and competing due dates.
  • Strong knowledge of MRP/MPS, BOMs, routings, operation sequencing, lead/queue times, work-center calendars, capacity planning and material readiness.
  • Ability to make disciplined tradeoffs among OTD, throughput, bottleneck utilization, setup efficiency, WIP and schedule stability.
  • Advanced analytical and Excel skills; able to build capacity/scheduling models and turn imperfect data into clear priorities and recovery plans.
  • Expert ERP/MRP proficiency; finite scheduling/APS experience strongly preferred. IFS Cloud experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of Lean flow, load leveling, constraint management/Theory of Constraints and continuous improvement principles.
  • Strong judgment, communication and influencing skills; able to establish one production priority and challenge infeasible requests with data.
  • Highly organized and effective in a fast-changing, cross-functional job-shop environment.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Engineering, Business or…
