Position HighlightsThe Plant Operator II performs demand and scheduled preventive maintenance of the facility equipment, primarily Mechanical, Utilities and associated systems, in accordance with departmental, hospital and regulatory agency codes. Specific duties include maintaining facilities and equipment in a hospital or clinic environment.

The Plant Operator II performs demand and scheduled preventive maintenance of the facility equipment, primarily Mechanical, Utilities and associated systems, in accordance with departmental, hospital and regulatory agency codes. Specific duties include maintaining facilities and equipment in a hospital or clinic environment.
- Demonstrates technical knowledge depth for mechanical, utilities and associated systems according to standards established by management.
- Performs general maintenance repairs and other duties as assigned, following the Unit Specific Competency Checklist.
- Responds to emergency situations including disaster response, power or other utilities loss, floods, etc., to limit effect on the facility.
- Ensures all work uses the proper PPE, including Arc Flash protection.
- Demonstrates proficiency with power and hand tools, maintaining them safely and properly.
- Uses maintenance equipment, hand-held power tools, computers for building automation and computerized maintenance management systems, effectively communicating with others.
- Provides complete documentation for management and authorities, including work order documentation.
- Performs basic infection prevention procedures.
- Identifies changes needed on all prints and notifies supervisors when changes occur in existing spaces and new projects.
- Works from blueprints, estimates projects, creates bill of materials, and plans small projects.
- Possesses knowledge and skills required for a Third-Grade Stationary Engineer's license.
- Assists with, oversees or inspects repairs or modifications performed by contractors.
- Manages individual inventory per departmental inventory management and control parameters, demonstrating safe work practices, OSHA compliance, effective communication, and customer service skills.
- Shows management skills such as planning, coordination, estimating, scheduling, troubleshooting, and problem-solving.
- Uses diagnostic equipment to facilitate troubleshooting and repair processes.
- Creates bill of materials from blueprints.
- Manages individual inventory and maintains mechanical-related equipment documentation manuals.
- Performs other duties as needed for the hospital within expectations set by management.
- Identifies different types of solder and their usage.
- Demonstrates knowledge of components and functionality of a condensate pump.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma.
- Valid Florida Driver's License.
- Eight (8) years experience as a Chiller/Boiler Service Related Technician.
- Ability to work various shifts and/or weekends as needed.
- Ability to travel between other Moffitt Cancer Center facilities.
- Evidence of a good driving record, maintained per Moffitt policy.
- Three (3) years Hospital Maintenance preferred.
- One (1) year high-rise Mechanical and/or Utilities systems experience preferred.
- Stationary Engineer's License preferred.
