Minimum Biweekly Rate of Pay: $3,563.96. (In accordance with current spending restrictions, an internal promotion into the position will be filled at the minimum of the pay grade or up to 5% of the employee’s current rate, whichever is higher.)
DescriptionThis position is the Regional Director of Residential Services in the Central Region.
Duties & Responsibilities- The Director is responsible for assisting the Assistant Secretary for Residential and Correctional Facilities in directing and operating all residential and correctional facilities within an assigned region and ensuring the mission of the Department is achieved with the highest level of efficiency, cost effectiveness and accountability.
- Ensures that contracted residential and correctional programs are administered in accordance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations statewide.
- Analyzes operational performance of all state-operated and contracted programs for identification of problems and develops alternatives for solutions.
- Ensures the safe and secure functioning of all state-operated and contracted programs.
- Assists in developing and implementing policy to maintain and improve employee morale, reduce turnover, and recognize achievement within residential and correctional programs and services.
- Analyzes trends, conditions, and legal requirements related to state-operated and contracted residential services and takes management action as necessary.
- Ensures public and offender safety by having a zero escape policy and providing for offender and staff safety.
- Advocates on behalf of the region to ensure adequate resources for service delivery.
- Ensures proper maintenance and construction of new and expanding facilities.
- Administers that region's budget in compliance with law, rules, and policy in the manner that most effectively addresses that region's needs.
- Participates in allocation decisions concerning new resources.
- Directs staff in identifying, assessing, analyzing and preparing reports of recommendations to resolve issues and problems.
- Enhances the professionalism of state-operated and contracted residential services through implementation of standardization, leadership, and direction.
- Assesses training needs and works with the Bureau of Staff Development to ensure training is provided that enhances career development.
- Coordinates public information, media inquiries, and public relations to inform the public and represents the Department's position, requirements, and achievements to external organizations, such as the legislature.
- Oversees the preparation of legislative budget requests for the region.
- Position incumbent supervises employees and spends the majority of time communicating with, motivating, training and evaluating employees, planning and directing employees’ work, and has the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward or discipline subordinates or effectively recommend such action.
- Coordinates with the Office of System Innovation to interpret, use, and monitor data related to the innovative initiatives. Uses a data-driven problem solving and implementation model to make informed decisions based on analysis and trends. Informs/educates both internal program areas and external system partners on identified patterns. Works collaboratively to implement system improvement initiatives designed to enhance outcomes for youth and families.
