Maureen and Douglas Cohn Executive Director of the Tampa JCCs

The Tampa Jewish Community Centers and Federation seeks an Executive Director of its JCCs who will grow membership and programs, be an excellent supervisor and fundraiser, and be one of the key public faces of the organization, focusing on the operations and effectiveness of the Shanna and Bryan Glazer JCC and JCC North Campus. Prior JCC or other Jewish communal experience is strongly preferred.

As a result of the Tampa JCCs being part of an integrated JCC-Federation, some of the typical JCC administrative functions will be managed by other departments; however, the successful candidate will have significant input into the goals and operations of the entire organization.

The Executive Director (ED) will be responsible for overseeing a broad array of fitness, recreational, educational, cultural and social programs. The ED will also play a lead role in maximizing membership recruitment, all program fees and other revenues for the JCCs. These include a lead role in charitable fundraising among individuals, families, corporate entities and grant procurement from foundations and all levels of government.

In addition, the Tampa JCCs ED will strive to secure as many corporate sponsor ships as possible for JCC programs.

The 83,500 square feet of previously vacant space in the historic Fort Homer Hesterly Armory was developed into the transformative Shanna and Bryan Glazer JCC. Its approximately 120,000 square feet of community space is an extraordinary gathering place, providing a wide range of programs and services for people of all ages, including recreation, fitness, education and culture, designed to engage individuals and families and help to meet the needs of a diverse community.

The location is in a desirable and highly visible gateway to downtown Tampa and all West and South Tampa areas. The center opened in 2016, housing, among other components, a state-of-the-art fitness and aquatics center; visual arts center operated by the City of Tampa;
Senior Center for Active Living; the Florida-Israel Business Accelerator; an area for teens and 'tweens; a premier event venue; and community services space, including Tampa Jewish Family Services (food bank and counseling offices).

In June 2026, after closing the Cohn Campus in North Tampa, the organization leased space in the same general area for a JCC North location that houses the JCC's award-winning Parkinson's program that now has a national presence as a result of its partnership with the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research and working with ten other JCCs around the country.

The facility also houses the organization's Arts and Culture administrative offices and PJ Library program.

The Jewish population of Tampa is thought to be close to 25,. There are five synagogues in South Tampa, three in Greater Carrollwood and one additional synagogue in the University area. There are several places that offer Kosher food, including a café at the Shanna and Bryan Glazer JCC, a new Kosher restaurant and many different organizations and groups, such as Tampa Jewish Family Services, TOP Jewish Foundation, Hillel Academy, Hebrew Academy of Tampa Bay, Torah Academy, Tampa Bay-Job-Links, Hillels of the Florida Suncoast, Jewish War Veterans and Hadassah, to name some.

Tampa sits on Tampa Bay, along Florida's Gulf Coast. A major business center, it's also known for its museums and other cultural offerings. The historic Ybor City neighborhood, developed by Cuban and Spanish cigar-factory workers at the turn of the 20th century, is a dining and nightlife destination. Tampa is a cultural hub and is home to a variety of stage and performing arts venues, theaters, museums and professional sports teams.

The City of Tampa operates over 165 parks and beaches covering 1,186 acres within city limits, and 41 more in surrounding suburbs covering 70,000 acres. As a tourist destination, Tampa has many attractions and theme parks, including Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, Adventure Island, Zoo Tampa at Lowry Park and the Florida Aquarium.
