* Perform point-to-point wiring of cabinets, chassis, panels, cable installation, and full flight simulator systems wiring on board and off board, installing, and securing cabling under raised floors and up on ladder racks. Building of complex cable assemblies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
* You will basically do all the wiring in a full motion aircraft simulator that is built for the military. This is a hands-on working position; it is not only a bench job.
* This position involves traveling about half of the year. Maybe more, maybe less. All over the world.
* Sometimes with very short notice, sometimes from one site directly to the next without stopping home. You need to be able to travel extensively. Most trips are about 3-4 weeks for installs, but some are longer, some may only be 1-2 days.
* You will be working 60 hours, 6 days a week when traveling. (Mon-Sat), (Time and a half after 40 hours), sometimes rotating shifts.
* Company provides you with a Corporate American Express card for travel expenses, a laptop computer, and all tools needed.
* Company pays you the GSA maximum per diem. (Non-Taxable) to cover meals and incidentals when traveling, approximately $59-$79 CONUS, $62-$157 OCONUS, as of 2023
* Company pays the following travel expenses:
Airfare Rental car (usually 2 or 3 EA's share a car). Reimburses tolls, parking, currency exchange fees, excess cell phone charges when traveling. Reimburses up to $30
USD per week for your laundry when traveling 7 days or more. Reimburses for steel toe shoes/boots yearly/as needed. Passport, Global Entry, original or renewals.
* Ability to read work orders, follow production and sample assemblies, diagrams, wire lists or verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed.
* Assist with the selection of wires, specific colors, marking or length and looping wires between guide pegs on harness board and follow color-coded lines or sequence numbers on board or diagram.
* Assist with wire measurements, cutting, and wire marker installations and wire terminations in accordance with the wire list and workmanship standards.
* Assist with wire installations in cabinets, and trainer system wiring.
• Ability to learn and become skilled in performing error free lug and contact pin crimping operations.
* Learn and gain proficiency in the fabrication of complete cable assemblies per wire lists.
* Assist with connecting component lead wires to printed circuit assemblies or route and connect wires between individual component leads and other components, connectors, terminals and contact points.
* Perform wire continuity verification using continuity tester.
* Learn and gain proficiency with creation and application of wire or harness identification labels.
* Assist with work assignments from trainer system hardware logs.
* Assist with the selection and installation of cable harnesses and cable clamps.
* Cable tie harnesses and assists with wire routing, lacing and layout.
* Must have basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical hand tools and be able to effectively use them (wire strippers - manual and pneumatic, crimpers - manual and pneumatic, hand cutters, heat gun, insertion and extraction tools, hot air sleeve solder gun, soldering iron, wire wrap tool, continuity tester, tape measure, ribbon cable connector assembly tool, etc.)
* Basic understanding of military and commercial workmanship standards
* Must be willing and able to assume work assignments away from the facility for extended periods for site installations and be willing to work rotating shifts.
* Aptitude for learning how to work from wire lists, assembly drawings, schematics, engineering orders, engineering change orders, engineering logs, workmanship standards and manufacturing procedures / work instructions.
* Basic computer skills are required for time reporting and work order processing.
