About the Opportunity
The Metal Fabricator is responsible for fabricating, assembling, and repairing metal components and structures according to engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions. This role involves cutting, shaping, forming, riveting, and straightening sheet metal or structural components using hand tools, power tools, and fabrication machinery. The ideal candidate demonstrates precision craftsmanship, and a commitment to safety and quality standards.
LocationStuart, FL - On-Site. Monday to Thursday, 5 AM to 3 PM.
Responsibilities- Learn and gain a better understanding of calibrated tooling and equipment such as but not limited to vernier calipers, height gages, pi‑tapes, plug gages, micrometers, go/no go gages, thread gages, cylindrical plug and vertical dividing head.
- Proficient in interpreting blueprints to determine how and where to fabricate, assemble and install sheet metal products.
- Semi‑proficient in the use of angle grinder, straight grinder, high speed/pencil grinder, gapping tools and gapping pins to perform blending, deburring, drilling, gapping, grinding and prepping operations.
- Proficient in measuring, marking dimensions, and laying out material to be installed using tools such as scribes, rulers, calculators, and squares.
- Proficient in fastening joints and seams in sheet metal with solder, welds, caulk, bolts, and metal driver clips, ensuring work is done carefully and bonds will last.
- Assist in checking parts using specified gages or check parts using furnished fixtures to see that dimensions are being maintained.
- Proficient in the processes of deburring, drilling, blending welds, and maintaining specific tolerances.
- Semi‑proficient in setting up and operating sheet metal machines such as but not limited to shear, rollers, band saw, nibblers, belt sanders, sizers and press brake.
- Able to use the band saw to perform operations such as but not limited to cutting moderate complex layouts.
- Consistently maintain specific tolerances and accurately perform dimensions.
- Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
- Follow all applicable safety rules and precautions.
- Other job‑related duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 2‑5 years of related experience.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full‑time basis without sponsorship now or in the future.
- Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations.
- Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program or technical certification in Metal Fabrication, Welding, or Precision Manufacturing.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex blueprints, process sheets, and engineering drawings.
- Experience using precision measuring equipment instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, dial indicators).
- Familiarity with fabrication tools and machinery such as press breaks, rollers, shears, grinders, and rivet guns.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work with tight tolerances and maintain high quality standards.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with engineers, inspectors, and supervisors.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel.
- Must be able to communicate verbally and have the ability to hear.
- The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and stoop or crouch.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds, at times up to 50 pounds.
- Personal protective equipment (e.g., safety glasses and safety shoes) is required on the shop floor.
