The Sorter is responsible for ensuring proper placement and sorting materials on the conveyor line by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Inspect materials and sort items into piles or places in containers according to type, size, condition, coloring or paper grade.
- Pull contaminants out of paper or off the floor.
- Stack boxes and skids, dump boxes and totes of material.
- Feed material, such as wastepaper, onto the conveyor.
- Clean up the conveyor and surrounding sorting line. Keep the surrounding work area clean.
- Read monitor for machine start‑up and ensure the machine is operating properly and at a moderate speed.
- Follow appropriate standard operating procedures (SOPs) as guidelines for operating and maintaining equipment.
- Report any worker/public safety factors and/or equipment malfunctions.
- Attend weekly/monthly safety and operations meetings.
- May provide support or direction to less experienced sorters.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Required Qualifications: 2 years of relevant work experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED (accredited).

This job operates in both inside garage, shop or gas plant conditions as well as in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity. This role is safety‑sensitive and requires strict compliance with all safety rules and protocols. The successful candidate may be subject to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with government regulations and company policies.
