Job DescriptionMachine Operator responsible for all operations in the rough finishing line including cutting, sandblasting, knocking out, trimming, cutting, and grinding. Operates all rough finishing equipment, ensures safety guards, follows engineering instructions, checks routers and work pieces, spot checks, contacts supervision, places finished work, reports defective equipment, and maintains a clean work area.
Responsibilities- Maintain, adjust and operate all rough finishing equipment as required.
- Ensure all safety guards and shields are in place before operation.
- Check engineering instructions and specifications on part to ensure correct procedure and quality requirements.
- Verify routers for proper part number and master heat number on paperwork, and confirm previous operations signed off.
- Spot check cut‑off parts for accuracy, inspect for cracks, heat checks, or other damage.
- Contact supervision or engineering before proceeding if damage or defect is observed.
- Place finished work in pre‑assigned location.
- Report defective equipment to supervisor.
- Leave work area clean and orderly at the end of shift.
- High school education or equivalent life experience and three to six months related experience and/or training.
- Ability to read a limited number of two‑ and three‑syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers; ability to print and speak simple sentences.
- Ability to add and subtract two‑digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's; ability to perform these calculations using American units of money, weight, measurement, volume, and distance.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; effectively solve common equipment or process related problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
Stand in a stationary position for extended periods; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; occasionally walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Regularly lift or move up to 25 pounds and frequently up to 50 pounds. Requires close vision and depth perception.
Work EnvironmentRegularly works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to vibration, fumes or airborne particles, and high noise levels.
Additional InformationApparel: must wear safety equipment such as hearing protection, safety eyewear, hand protection, and safety‑toed shoes. Other duties may be assigned within the department as deemed appropriate by the supervisor.
Salary range reflects a broad spectrum of experience levels. Compensation is determined by experience, education, certifications, skills, internal equity, and market conditions.
