Ready to make a lasting impact in disaster recovery? We're seeking passionate individuals to join our team or serve with Ameri Corps.

Natural disasters are increasing in size and frequency, and displacing over 15 million people each year. Hurricanes like Maria, Milton, Helene, and Ian disproportionately affect under-resourced communities, whose road to recovery often takes years to complete. SBP is dedicated to reducing the time between disaster and recovery, a process that includes helping individual homeowners and communities rebuild after a disaster.

Over the course of 10 months, you can help us rebuild homes, repair lives, and fortify families from reaching their breaking point. As an SBP Ameri Corps member, you can choose to directly assist in our construction and disaster deployment efforts or decide to play a crucial role in coordinating services to disaster survivors.

• Identify and support prospective clients, working with them to complete an application for assistance either in person, via phone, or via video platforms such as Face Time or Zoom
• Prepare and present prospective client cases to site leadership for funding and construction
• Assist clients in navigating and applying for external funding to support specific recovery needs
• Manage a caseload of 30-40 clients, acting as a reliable point of contact through their initial application for assistance through the rebuilding process
• Refer clients who are in need of housing, food, or other supports to appropriate service providers
• Meet weekly with the Client Services Manager to discuss goals, client cases, professional development, and any other issues, and be open to feedback and coaching
• Input client data and upload documents into Salesforce and update case notes daily
• Adhere to SBP’s Construction Manual and Safety Protocol and participate in regular safety training
• Participate in September 11th Day of Remembrance and Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service events, which may take place on a weekend or during holidays and include activities outside of the scope of typical day-to-day functions

• Be at least 17 years of age or older.
• Have a high school diploma or its equivalent.
• Be a citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States.

Ameri Corps is a National Service program and an incredible opportunity to serve the community while gaining valuable professional skills. Members are expected to complete a total of 1,700 hours through the course of the 10-month term. Members are required to serve full-time Monday – Friday 8 AM - 5 PM, and an average of 2 Saturdays a month.

COVID-19 Safety Statement:
While COVID-19 vaccines and boosters are highly encouraged, they are not mandatory for SBP team members at this time. However, SBP strongly recommends that all team members stay current with vaccinations and boosters, which remains one of the best ways to protect themselves, their colleagues, and the clients we serve.

• Stipend of $2,227.9 per month (pre-tax)
• Free individual health insurance
• A housing stipend of $175/month for Ameri Corps alumni
• Relocation reimbursement of up to $500 for eligible members

You will be eligible for:

• An education award of $7,395 upon successful completion of each 10-month term (Can be used as tuition assistance and/or for repaying qualified student loans and is awarded upon successful completion of a 10-month term of service)
• Student loan forbearance for qualified loans
