Job Description

The USF Development Office builds relationships, generates interest, and inspires confidence among the university's constituents to attract private funding. Private gifts are used to advance teaching, research, creative expression, and promote community engagement. The Development Office is the fundraising unit of the USF Foundation Inc. and the Division of University Advancement with 60+ fundraisers expected to raise $150+ million dollars annually.

This position reports to the Director of Development for the Muma College of Business. The Associate Director of Development is responsible for establishing and managing prospect and donor relationships through identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship to meet fundraising goals in alignment with the mission and aspirations of the Muma College of Business and the University of South Florida. In addition to major gift fundraising responsibilities, the Associate Director assists with coordination and implementation of the College's annual giving program and development-related event management.

Responsibilities
  • Identify, cultivate, and solicit prospects to secure major gifts of $10,000+ for top funding priorities. Set fundraising, visit, and proposal goals in collaboration with leadership based on the prospect pool.
  • Maintain a significant prospect portfolio and strategically manage relationships through face‑to‑face and virtual visits to bring major solicitations to closure.
  • Serve as an active member of the Muma College of Business Advancement Team, contributing creativity and innovation to the team's fundraising strategy.
  • Build and invest in strong relationships with College leaders and faculty to promote a culture of philanthropy, and identify opportunities for university leaders to support prospective donors.
  • Direct annual giving and alumni programs for the College of Business in collaboration with the USF Foundation Office of Annual Giving and the USF Alumni Association.
  • Qualify prospective donors through strategic monthly visits and assist with development‑related events, competitions, speaker series, and other programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and 4 years of fundraising experience or other appropriate related experience.
  • Degree Equivalency Clause:
    Four years of direct experience for a bachelor’s degree.
  • Senate Bill 1310 reasons for employment eligibility (list of points):
    - Two years of direct experience for an associate degree;
    - Four years of direct experience for a bachelor’s degree;
    - Six years of direct experience for a master’s degree;
    - Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree;
    - Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
    Related work experience may not substitute for required licensure, certification, or registration required for the position.
  • Minimum Qualifications that require a high school diploma are exempt from SB 1310.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in higher education institutions and success in cultivating, soliciting, and closing gifts.
  • Experience using fundraising management systems such as Ellucian Advance to enter and report donor contact activities.
  • Strong computer literacy and experience managing fundraising related events.
