Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Mission Advancement, the Director of Development Strategy & Annual Giving is responsible for strengthening the Advisory Boards, Volunteers and Organizations development capacity by equipping Center Executive Directors and teams with the tools, resources, training, processes, and coaching necessary to effectively build philanthropic relationships and achieve fundraising goals within their communities. While Center Executive Directors maintain ownership and accountability for their respective center fundraising goals, this role provides leadership and guidance throughout the full fundraising cycle, including campaign planning, donor cultivation, solicitation strategy, stewardship practices, volunteer engagement, and donor relationship management.

The Director also maintains an individual Association-level fundraising portfolio. This role develops and implements stewardship plans designed to strengthen donor relationships and retention and ensures meaningful donor engagement across annual campaigns and community initiatives.

ACCOUNTABILITY:

Accountable for completion and achievement of assigned development goals as measured by annual campaign performance, fundraising outcomes, donor retention and stewardship metrics, portfolio performance, community engagement outcomes, volunteer engagement, strategic plan initiatives, and supervisor evaluation of assigned responsibilities. Performance indicators may include annual giving results, donor pipeline growth, campaign effectiveness, stewardship execution, and Association-wide development capacity building.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Quality/Growth

* Leads the development and implementation of Association-wide annual giving strategies aligned with approved strategic priorities and campaign objectives.

* Leads, manages, and maintains accountability for the planning, execution, and achievement of the Association Office Annual Giving Campaign, including strategy development, volunteer engagement, donor cultivation, campaign performance, and achievement of established fundraising goals.

* Serves as the primary fundraising advisor to Center Executive Directors, providing strategic guidance, coaching, and tools to strengthen local development efforts, expand community and donor relationships, and support all phases of the fundraising cycle, from planning and cultivation through solicitation, stewardship, and volunteer engagement.

* Develops and implements fundraising toolkits, resources, templates, communication materials, and best practices that enable center teams to successfully execute annual giving initiatives.

* Creates and delivers volunteer and staff development training focused on fundraising fundamentals, relationship building, donor engagement, storytelling, and effective face-to-face solicitation techniques.

* Maintains an individual fundraising portfolio and is accountable for achieving assigned Association-level fundraising goals, including major donor cultivation and community relationship development.

* Partners with development support staff, finance, accounting, and data management teams to ensure contribution processing, donor acknowledgements, stewardship activities, and data integrity processes are consistently followed.

* Leads development and implementation of communication strategies supporting donor cultivation, annual campaigns, volunteer engagement, board engagement, and stewardship initiatives.

* Creates systems and processes that enhance fundraising effectiveness and strengthen the Association's long-term development capacity in alignment with the Strategic Plan.

* Develops and oversees an Association-wide donor stewardship strategy, ensuring meaningful donor engagement, recognition, acknowledgment, retention, and consistent stewardship practices across all annual campaign and fundraising activities.

* Celebrates and recognizes campaign successes, volunteers, staff, and donor contributions in meaningful ways that reinforce a culture of philanthropy throughout the Association.

Safety and Risk Management

* Adhere to all Federal, State, and local safety regulations, as well as all YMCA policies and procedures related to the safety, health, and welfare of members, participants, guests, and staff.

* Ensure that all Tampa YMCA standards, leading practices, and policies are implemented and consistently followed, including those related to emergency procedures, child abuse prevention, and appropriate supervision.

* Adhere to policies and procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising participants and boundaries with participants when applicable.

* Ensure implementation of and follows all training requirements including risk management and child abuse prevention training in addition to ensuring proper reporting of all incidents/accidents according to risk management procedures.
