POSITION SUMMARY:

The Vice President of Philanthropy serves as a key member of the Resource Development leadership team and is responsible for leading the organization’s individual giving strategy while securing, stewarding, and growing major philanthropic investments that advance the mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tampa Bay (BGCGTB).

Reporting directly to the Chief Development Officer, the Vice President of Philanthropy develops and executes comprehensive strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift donors, leadership donors, planned giving prospects, and campaign contributors. This position manages a portfolio of high-capacity donors and prospects while building a sustainable pipeline of philanthropic support to achieve annual and long-term fundraising goals.

The Vice President of Philanthropy works collaboratively with senior leadership team, committee members, volunteers, and community stakeholders to strengthen relationships and inspire transformational investments that support BGCGTB’s strategic priorities, including Vision 2035 and the Centennial Campaign.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Major Gifts & Individual Giving Strategy

  • Develop and lead the organization’s comprehensive individual giving strategy, including annual, major, leadership, and planned giving initiatives.
  • Manage a portfolio of approximately 100 to 150 major gift donors and prospects capable of making gifts of $5,000 and above.
  • Conduct qualifications, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities resulting in increased donor retention and gift growth.
  • Develop customized donor engagement plans and proposals aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Secure major, principal, and transformational gifts through strategic relationship management.

Donor Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain meaningful relationships with donors, foundations, community leaders, and key stakeholders.
  • Partner with the Chief Development Officer, RD Team, and committee members to advance donor relationships and solicit major gifts.
  • Ensure exceptional stewardship practices that demonstrate impact and encourage continued investment.
  • Coordinate donor recognition opportunities, naming opportunities, and personalized stewardship experiences.
  • Support the planning and execution of capital, comprehensive, and endowment campaigns.
  • Lead major gift strategies related to the organization’s Centennial Campaign and future strategic initiatives.
  • Develop donor pipelines that support annual operations, capital projects, endowment growth, and program expansion.
  • Collaborate with Resource Development leadership to identify opportunities for cross-functional fundraising initiatives.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the Chief Development Officer regarding donor engagement and fundraising priorities.
  • Collaborate closely with Resource Development Operations, Marketing & Communications, Program Leadership, and Executive Leadership teams.
  • Foster a culture of philanthropy throughout the organization.

Performance Management & Reporting

  • Monitor and report fundraising performance against established goals and key performance indicators.
  • Maintain accurate donor records, and engagement plans within the organization's CRM.
  • Utilize data and analytics to evaluate fundraising effectiveness and inform strategic decisions.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and donor briefings for executive leadership and board committees.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible fundraising experience, with a strong emphasis on major gifts and individual giving.
