SummaryThe Senior Foundation Giving Officer reports to the Director of Foundation Giving and Strategic Initiatives and is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to secure philanthropic support from private foundations, corporate foundations, and other institutional funding sources. This position serves as a frontline fundraising role focused on identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding foundation partners in support of Moffitt's research, patient care, community outreach, and strategic institutional priorities.
The role manages a portfolio of foundation prospects and donors, develops competitive grant proposals, coordinates with internal stakeholders including faculty, research administration, and the Office of Sponsored Programs, and oversees foundation-related stewardship and reporting activities. The Senior Foundation Gift Officer contributes to fundraising strategy development, pipeline management, and revenue growth initiatives that support the Foundation's long-term financial objectives and organizational mission.
Responsibilities:
- Developing and deepening a portfolio of grant making foundations which support medical research and community health programs. To include but not limited to:
Foster a viable, well-researched prospect list, with corresponding gift opportunities. Develop a pipeline and road map of solicitations to support ambitious goals. - Fundraising Progress:
Think creatively and strategically about funding opportunities among independent foundations and match to Moffitt’s institutional priorities. Secure meetings/discussions with key personnel at potential funding organizations and make effective/persuasive presentation and grant applications. - Building and sustaining relationships with grantors:
Ensure grant makers are kept apprised of spending and progress through formal and informal project reporting. Seek opportunities to connect new grant making institutions with Moffitt. Coordinate with Moffitt research administration and the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP). To Ensure research administration processes are followed for foundation grants, serve as the liaison between research administration and foundations and coordinate required reporting/stewarding activities.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree within relevant field.
- At least five (5) years of successful, verifiable experience in front line fundraising, specifically in Foundation and Corporate Foundation sectors.
- Track record of writing grants for 6+ figure awards.
- Experience in large organizations within Healthcare or Higher Education sectors.
- Experience partnering with Office of Sponsored Research and research administration.
- Accountability for meeting financial goals.
- Excellent verbal and written commination skills.
- The sophistication to work with Senior Executives, Board members and other VIPs on occasion.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills, and the ability to effectively self-manage progress to financial goals.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with team members to deliver maximum effective performance and results.
- Experience raising funds for medical research/community health projects.
- Relationships with established grant making foundations.
