Position Summary
The Director of Infusion Services provides strategic and operational leadership for outpatient infusion services, ensuring safe, high-quality, and efficient patient care. This role oversees clinical and operational functions, including nursing practice, staffing, workflow optimization, and resource management, while partnering with physicians and leadership to achieve organizational goals. The Director is accountable for regulatory compliance, quality and patient safety outcomes, staff development, and fiscal performance, ensuring services are delivered consistently and aligned with organizational priorities.
CoreEssential Responsibilities
- Collaborates with providers, nursing, and administrative leadership to support effective utilization of resources and efficient delivery of infusion services. Assesses workflows and supports implementation of process improvements.
- Implements and monitors adherence to established policies and procedures. Participates in the development of recommendations related to organizational structure, processes, space, equipment, and staffing.
- Oversees infusion nursing operations, including documentation, staffing, onboarding, training, and ongoing staff support. Provides coaching and guidance to ensure performance expectations are met.
- Ensures safe handling, preparation, storage, and disposal of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and hazardous or infectious materials in accordance with established protocols and safety standards.
- Manages assigned operational and financial responsibilities, including monitoring staffing levels to ensure appropriate coverage and delivery of patient care services.
- Conducts ongoing evaluation of departmental performance and supports quality improvement initiatives related to patient care, safety, and clinical outcomes.
- Prepares and reviews reports on key operational metrics, including volumes, budget performance, staffing, and efficiency measures, and communicates findings as appropriate.
- Ensures compliance with applicable regulatory, accreditation, and organizational requirements, including federal and state laws governing areas of responsibility.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (Required)
- Master's degree in Nursing or Business Administration (Preferred)
- Minimum of 3 years of work experience in Nursing Management; 5 years of work experience in Nursing;
General experience in an RN role in a clinical ambulatory setting
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state (Required)
- ONS Chemotherapy Biotherapy Administration certification (Required)
- Oncology Certified Nurse (Preferred)
- Nurse Executive Board Certified (Preferred)
- Knowledge of infusion therapy, oncology practices, and regulatory standards
- Strong leadership, communication, and team development skills
- Ability to manage operations, budgets, and performance metrics
- Skill in workflow optimization and process improvement
- Ability to ensure patient safety, quality care, and regulatory compliance
- Maintains the highest standards of confidentiality, ethical integrity, and regulatory compliance.
