Position
Assessment Specialist RN
Schedule7pm – 7:30am, alternating weekends (3×12 hour shifts weekly)
Responsibilities- Facilitates response to a request for services, including the initial response, the assessment, the referral process, the designation of the appropriate level of care, admission into services, and appropriate follow‑up activity.
- Conducts initial evaluation, initiates assessment, documents patient symptomology, functioning, and needs, and provides information to MD for LOC determination.
- Demonstrates excellent customer service skills in assisting patients, physicians, visitors, and coworkers promptly and courteously.
- Possesses clear knowledge of Emergency Detention paperwork and processes and EMTALA.
- Maintains all pre‑admission and admission paperwork with accuracy and completes all pre‑certification with insurance companies.
- Monitors patient for change of condition and responds accordingly, up to and including notification of the physician.
- Follows hospital policy for medication administration.
- Consistently uses empathy, dignity, and respect when interacting with patients.
- Assists / performs comprehensive nursing assessments on all patients.
- Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing or hold relevant state licensure.
- Previous experience in a psychiatric health care facility, with direct experience working with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric, and geriatric patients preferred. Experience in patient assessments, family motivations, treatment planning, and communication with external review organizations or comparable entities.
- Current unencumbered license to practice by the State Board of Nursing.
- CPR certification and Crisis Prevention Training (CPI) within 30 days of employment and prior to any patient contact.
- Must be at least 21 years of age and may be required to work flexible hours and overtime.
