Based in the Critical Care Department, the APP Supervisor manages Advanced Practice Professionals (physician assistants and nurse practitioners) and serves as an APP practicing medicine within the scope of authority and privileges granted by Moffitt Cancer Center. The role provides patient care under the Moffitt Medical Group and supports the academic medical enterprise in contributing to the prevention and cure of cancer.
PositionHighlights:
- Oversees APP recruitment, performance, orientation, training, call coverage, time‑off requests, and allocation for physicians.
- Assists physicians with evaluation, management, and treatment of a wide spectrum of patients with diverse medical problems, procedures, and comorbidities.
- Works within a defined scope of practice and under the authority of supervising physicians or specific protocols.

- Exhibits a lead‑by‑example approach, is a superior communicator, engages well with team members, and provides patient‑focused care.
- Provides patient care as a member of an interdisciplinary team, coordinating and optimizing patient care with many specialists.
- Correlates subjective and objective data to formulate a differential or working diagnosis.
- Formulates treatment plans for medical conditions within the scope of practice.
- May perform minor surgical procedures within the scope of practice.
- Prescribes oral and IV medications when appropriate, within the scope of practice.
- Documents patient care in accordance with medical staff rules.
- Provides dedicated administrative and supervisory duties, and clinical admin time for clinic prep, charting, patient follow‑up, etc.
Qualifications:
- Active BLS and ACLS (AHA approved).
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an oncology APP (PA‑C or APRN) required.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a specialty required.
- Proficiency with EHR systems and knowledge of APP scope of practice guidelines, medical staff bylaws, rules, and regulations.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, such as leading projects and serving on committees.
- Licensure, certification, and registration as an APRN or PA‑C with ability to practice in the State of Florida.
