Job Description
This is a replacement APP to support physicians in a clinic. The APP will see pre‑op, post‑op, and routine return visit patients, work with physicians to maximize patient templates, place orders, answer MyChart messages, take phone calls from patients, and complete extensive paperwork such as FMLA and disability forms.
ResponsibilitiesClinical (90%)
- Obtain history and physical examination, order and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic tests and procedures in coordination with the supervising faculty physician.
- Regularly confer with faculty physicians regarding diagnosis, treatment, best form of therapy projected, and alert physicians to abnormal findings.
- Return patient phone calls, renew prescriptions, coordinate rehabilitative therapy, and assess post‑procedure problems.
- Provide outpatient clinic care including evaluation of new patients, established patients, and post‑op care.
- Provide pre‑ and post‑procedure education, assessment, and care of patients.
- Document all orders, procedures, and progress notes in the patient’s electronic medical record.
- Represent and support the mission, philosophy, and goals of the Department.
- Participate in clinical and education objectives required for licensure, certification, and credentialing.
- Write orders for changes in medications and arrange details of the plan.
Administrative (10%)
- Complete medical paperwork such as FMLA, Worker's Compensation, etc.
- Communicate with patients via MyChart and phone conversations.
- Update patients’ records, noting changes in medication and responses.
- Write orders to increase, decrease, or change medication, subject to checking and counter‑signing by physician.
- Participate in in‑service education programs and professional associations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher‑level administrator of a State university. Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities, and for academic advising.
Qualifications- Master’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field of specialization or equivalent qualifications based on professional experience, and otherwise qualified to perform assigned duties.
- Meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Instructor.
- Graduation from an accredited Advanced Practice Registered Nurse academic degree program and certification as outlined in Florida Statutes 464 and Florida Administrative Code, Chapter 64, or graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant academic degree program and certification as outlined in Florida Statutes 458 and 459 and Florida Administrative Code, Chapter 64.
