Position Overview

Bay Care Medical Group is seeking a dedicated and motivated Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our established Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery team at Bay Care St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa FL
.

This role offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with a highly experienced group of 4 cardiac surgeons and 6 advanced practice practitioners
, providing comprehensive care to cardiovascular and thoracic surgery patients across the continuum of outpatient services.

This position is ideal for an APP who is passionate about patient-centered care and thrives in a team-oriented, fast-paced specialty practice.

• Provide outpatient clinical care to cardiovascular and thoracic surgery patients, including pre-operative and post-operative management
• Provide limited inpatient support focused on day-of-discharge patient care, ensuring smooth transitions from hospital to outpatient follow-up
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including histories, physical exams, and diagnostic evaluations
• Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians
• Manage follow-up care, including wound checks, medication management, and recovery monitoring
• Provide patient education on procedures, recovery expectations, lifestyle modifications, and disease management
• Coordinate care with physicians, APP colleagues, nursing staff, and other multidisciplinary team members
• Review and interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., imaging, labs) and communicate results to patients
• Document all patient encounters accurately and timely in the electronic medical record (EMR)

• Collaborative team environment with experienced cardiovascular surgeons and APPs
• Strong support structure and established workflows

• Florida licensure
• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
• Board certification as an Acute Care NP or PA
• Prior experience in cardiovascular, thoracic surgery, cardiology, or surgical specialty preferred (new graduates with strong clinical rotations may be considered)
• Excellent clinical, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently while functioning effectively within a collaborative team
