Nursing Clinical Educator - Adult Stepdown (5A1) and Cardiac Telemetry Unit (5A2) (260001AG)

Under general supervision of the Department Manager, and according to established policies and procedures, the Clinical Nurse Educator designs, plans, and manages education projects. Follows established policies, procedures, professional guidelines, adult learning principles, and evidence-based practice to align education goals with business needs and identified strategies of Tampa General Hospital. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital.

• Design learning and deliver education/training to facilitate organizational change.
• Measure and evaluate the impact of education and contribute to improvement of human performance.
• Coordinate unit orientation through preceptor selection and participate in orientee assessments.
• Facilitate completion of competency-based orientation tools and unit/department level competencies as needed or required.
• Facilitate preceptor development and support completion of mandatory education initiatives such as creating new policies, implementing new products, and other unit-based/organization-wide initiatives.
• Provide bedside re‑education as needed.
• Facilitate student activities on the unit and serve as liaison to faculty for unit-based training.
• Assist with clinical ladder activities (if applicable to the department) and promotion of national certification.
• Serve as subject matter expert necessary to represent assigned departments/areas of coverage.
• Evaluate effectiveness of educational initiatives on an ongoing basis.
• Responsible for registration and course scheduling and posting to appropriate forum.
• Collaborate with the unit/department manager and ensure regulatory readiness.

• Deliver nursing care to patients a minimum of eight (8) hours per month, according to established nursing standards, policies, procedures, and professional guidelines.
• Exercise independent judgment and advanced clinical skills.
• Plan and implement nursing care; document nursing assessments; identify and report situations requiring intervention; formulate and communicate goals and directed plan of care; assure patient’s rights.

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing and hold a Bachelor’s in Nursing (BSN).
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida and possess three years of related work experience.
• MSN or certification in specialty approved for the ANCC Magnet requirement.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly and distinctly.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Knowledge of Access, Project, Publisher, and Front Page is desired.

Work is primarily performed in classroom and/or patient settings, interacting with patients, team members, physicians, family members and visitors. Lifting, bending, stooping, and exposure to bodily fluids is involved. This position is evaluated as a Level 1 per OSHA definitions for occupational exposure to blood‑borne pathogens. Level I Positions in this category require tasks involving exposure to blood and potentially infectious body fluids.
