Overview
The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) provides comprehensive psychiatric care to patients participating in the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Working as an integral member of the interdisciplinary treatment team, the PMHNP evaluates, diagnoses, and treats patients with a range of behavioral health conditions who require a higher level of care than traditional outpatient services.
The PMHNP is responsible for psychiatric evaluations, medication management, ongoing clinical assessment, risk evaluation, and treatment planning throughout the patient’s participation in the program. This position works closely with psychiatrists, therapists, nursing staff, social workers, and other members of the care team to support stabilization, recovery, and safe transition to the appropriate level of care.
Responsibilities- Provide psychiatric evaluations and diagnoses for patients in PHP/IOP settings.
- Deliver medication management and ongoing clinical assessment.
- Conduct risk evaluations and develop treatment plans collaboratively with the care team.
- Coordinate with psychiatrists, therapists, nursing staff, social workers, and other professionals to support stabilization and recovery.
- Support safe transition to the appropriate level of care as patients progress through the program.
