Job Title:

Laundry Worker

The Laundry Worker ensures a consistent supply of clean linen to nursing units by transporting, weighing, packing, and counting linen, while safely handling heavy rolling carts of soiled and clean items between nursing units and the loading dock.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver clean linen to nursing units according to established schedules and procedures.
  • Pick up soiled linen carts from nursing units and transport them safely to the loading dock.
  • Handle and maneuver soiled rolling carts that can weigh approximately 500–600 pounds using proper techniques and equipment.
  • Weigh clean linen deliveries to verify quantities and maintain accurate records.
  • Pack linen into nursing unit carts in an organized and efficient manner to meet unit needs.
  • Count linen items to ensure correct quantities are delivered and returned.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of linen carts, work areas, and equipment.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and procedures while moving heavy carts and working in the laundry and loading dock areas.
  • Communicate effectively with nursing units and team members to coordinate linen deliveries and pickups.
  • Report any issues with carts, equipment, or linen shortages to the appropriate personnel.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to perform general labor tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience or familiarity with laundry services and linen handling.
  • Capability to safely move and maneuver heavy rolling carts weighing up to approximately 500–600 pounds, using proper body mechanics and equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail when weighing, packing, and counting linen.
  • Reliability and punctuality to support scheduled linen deliveries and pickups.
  • Effective communication skills to coordinate with team members and nursing units.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and safety guidelines consistently.
  • Physical stamina to stand, walk, push, and pull heavy carts for extended periods during 10-hour shifts.

Environment

This role is based in a healthcare facility’s laundry and linen operations, working closely with nursing units and the loading dock. The schedule includes evening shifts from 1:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. with two team members on duty, and overnight shifts from 9:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. with one team member on duty, each shift lasting 10 hours over four days per week.

The work involves frequent movement between nursing units and the loading dock, pushing and pulling heavy rolling carts of soiled and clean linen. The environment can be warm and busy, with ongoing activity around laundry equipment and cart movement. You will typically wear practical, comfortable attire suitable for physical work and closed-toe footwear appropriate for an industrial and healthcare-support setting, following facility guidelines for safety and cleanliness.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $15.20 - $15.20/hr.
