Summary Practices medicine within the scope of authority and privileges granted by Moffitt Cancer Center. Provides patient care under the auspices of Moffitt Medical Group, and serves as member of the academic medical enterprise; advancing the institutional mission of contributing to the prevention and cure of cancer. As a medical provider that is not a physician but is licensed to diagnose and treat patients under protocol with a physician(s), the Nurse Practitioner assists physicians in the evaluation, management and treatment of patients.

The Nurse Practitioner is involved in a wide spectrum of patients with different medical problems, procedures and co-morbidities. Works independently within a defined scope of practice and under the authority of physician(s) under protocol(s).Based in the Interventional Pain Division, under the Department of Anesthesiology, this outpatient Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant position provides patient care under the auspices of the Moffitt Medical Group (MMG) and serves as member of the academic medical enterprise;

advancing the institutional mission of contributing to the prevention and cure of cancer.

Position Highlights:

Assists physicians with the outpatient evaluation and treatment of a wide spectrum of pain conditions affecting our patients with cancer.

Pain may be cancer related, treatment related, post operative or chronic.

Works within a defined scope of practice and under the authority of supervising physician(s) or by specific protocol(s).Will receive dedicated diagnostic and procedural training in the evaluation and management of pain disorders from a team of pain physicians and advanced practice professionals

The ideal provider (although not required) will have pain management knowledge inclusive of pain assessment, differentials for cause of pain, pharmacologic management and interventional pain procedure candidacy.

Responsibilities:

Provides patient care as a member of an interdisciplinary team, working with many specialists to coordinate and optimize patient care.

Correlates subjective and objective data to formulate a differential or working diagnosis.

Formulates treatment plans for pain conditions within scope of practice.

May perform minor pain procedures within scope of practice.

Prescribes oral and IV medications when appropriate, within the scope of practice.

Documents patient care in accordance with medical staff rules.

Credentials and

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree at minimum;
Master's degree preferred.

Graduate of an accredited Advanced Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant program.

Active FL medical license (or the ability to obtain one) and national certification by the appropriate accreditation body.

Active BLS and ACLS (must be AHA approved)
Experience in pain management, anesthesiology, oncology or general internal medicine; previous specific experience in relation to pain is preferred.

Salary Range$ - $Salary ranges posted for this position represent the expected base pay range for the role. Actual compensation may vary based on location and a variety of job-related factors, including experience, skills, education, and internal equity among Team Members in similar positions.
