PRN CRNA ​/ CAA

Summary

The Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) will serve as a member of the Anesthesiology Department and provide anesthesia care to cancer patients under the direct supervision of physician anesthesiologists. The CRNA must work within the scope of practice for CRNAs per protocol and state statutes.

• Non‑benefitted PRN or variable day/hours position; hourly rate $170; availability required for planned coverage; shifts may vary from 8, 10, or 12 hours with possible extensions to meet patient needs; rotating late call and at‑home call.
• Performs procedures to render patient insensible to pain during surgical, therapeutic, or diagnostic procedures, including regional, spinal, and general anesthesia per ASA guidelines.
• Recognizes and takes appropriate corrective action for abnormal patient responses to anesthesia or adjunctive medication.
• Supports life functions during anesthesia: induction, intubation, mechanical ventilation, fluid, electrolyte, and blood component management.
• Participates in management in post‑anesthesia recovery area, orders fluids and drugs, completes post‑operative anesthesia evaluation.

• Performs and/or reviews pre‑operative anesthetic evaluation thoroughly.
• Collaborates with the Anesthesiologist to formulate and implement an anesthetic plan based on the evaluation.
• Notifies supervising Anesthesiologist of significant changes in anesthetic or pre‑operative status.
• Recognizes and treats cardiac arrhythmia under anesthetic care.
• Calls for help during life‑threatening emergencies and initiates resuscitation measures.
• Orders pre‑anesthetic medication under protocol.
• Orders or performs monitoring procedures per ASA guidelines.
• Preceptor for anesthesia students and resource for nursing and other personnel.
• Communicates and consults with referring physicians.
• Participates in case review and risk management.
• Maintains complete and accurate anesthetic records, including billing information.
• Documents type, dose, and time of antibiotic administration.

• Master's degree required.
• Training, experience, and education consistent with completion of an accredited American Association of Nurse Anesthetists or Academy of Anesthesiologist Assistants approved training program.

$170.00 per hour.
