REGISTERED NURSE SUPERVISOR

The Florida Department of Health in Hillsborough County is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse Supervisor to support our mission to protect, promote, and improve the health of all people in Florida through integrated state, county, and community efforts. The Registered Nurse Supervisor serves as a clinical and operational leader within the STD Program. This role provides direct supervision to nursing staff and ensures high-quality, evidence-based care in alignment with state and local protocols. The incumbent must either hold, or be expected to obtain, certification as an STD RN Clinician, including completion of all required Department of Health trainings and the maintenance of active certification through the STD Section in Tallahassee.

The Registered Nurse Supervisor demonstrates strong organizational and leadership skills, maintains positive and professional relationships with staff and clients, and remains flexible, approachable, and adaptable to change.

Responsibilities include supervising, motivating, training, and evaluating staff; planning and directing daily work; and managing personnel actions such as hiring, assigning duties, promoting, disciplining, and recognizing employees. The supervisor also establishes performance expectations, conducts regular performance meetings, completes evaluations, manages timesheets, and ensures appropriate staffing and coverage within the program.
