Veterinary Technician - ICU - Overnight

Blue Pearl Specialty + Emergency Pet Hospital in Port Washington, WI is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our overnight ICU team. This position includes supporting the ICU as well as serving as a floor CVT for the ER for approximately half of the shift.

Tuesdays, 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM.

• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation.
• Identify patients that are in need of critical care and/or at risk for arrest.
• Initiate lifesaving efforts on patients in cardiopulmonary arrest.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Be proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels and perform in-house lab work.
• Perform nursing care with post-operative orthopedic and recumbent patients.
• Use critical thinking skills to identify changes in patient statuses.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
