Position Summary

The Operations Safety Coordinator is responsible for implementing and overseeing safety programs at job sites, with a focus on the Company Commercial Division locations. This position assists in developing, training, and enforcing safety policies and procedures consistent with OSHA regulations, Workers Compensation and company standards. The Operations Safety Coordinator partners with safety personnel, branch management, operations teams, and corporate leadership to identify risks, investigate incidents, and promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement in workplace safety.

The individual will travel to the Commercial sites on a regular basis.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Participate in the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of safety programs, procedures, and initiatives to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments of branch and warehouse equipment and facilities to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Partner with Safety and Operations teams to standardize and refresh safety SOPs for the Commercial Division locations, to reduce safety and operational risks.
  • Coordinate and conduct employee safety training sessions, including equipment operation, PPE use, and hazard communication.
  • Conduct safety orientations for new hires to promote safety awareness and compliance.
  • Handle and support the investigation and documentation of workplace incidents, injuries, and near-misses, including root cause analysis and determination of follow-up actions.
  • Maintain accurate safety records, reports, and logs in accordance with company policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor safety metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Participate in safety meetings, committee discussions, and corporate compliance initiatives.
  • Manage workers' compensation reporting and return-to-work coordination in partnership with HR and Risk Management.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in workplace safety, compliance, or risk management, preferably in distribution, construction, or industrial environments.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and environmental regulations required.
  • Certification in safety management (OSHA 30, CHST, or equivalent) preferred.
  • Experience conducting safety training and facility inspections required.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Requirements:
  • Strong understanding of workplace safety regulations, best practices, and compliance standards.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for conducting training and collaborating with all organizational levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with safety management or reporting systems.
  • Ability to travel to branch locations regularly to conduct audits, training, and inspections.
