Laboratory Technician

Join our team as a Laboratory Technician where you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and safety of our products. You will be responsible for conducting various tests and analyses in our production facility, adhering to rigorous safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) in the warehouse or production areas.
• Maintain food quality and safety according to quality standards and Safe Quality Food requirements.
• Ensure all products conform to specifications outlined in the SAP system and conduct analyses on raw deliveries, syrup batches, and treated water.
• Maintain accurate and legible records of all tests and retests performed, and complete required reports in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with all departments to improve quality, increase efficiencies and yields, and eliminate out-of-specification or damaged products.
• Startup lines accurately and timely by pre-confirming flavor, carbo-trol/flow mix settings, and product parameters.
• Conduct chemical and physical analyses on raw, intermediate processing, and packaging materials to determine their status.
• Perform audits to evaluate finished products against current standards and monitor all aspects of finished product and packaging integrity.
• Check process control parameters to ensure proper equipment application and operation by performing secure seal, closure torque, and seaming checks.
• Maintain proper operation, cleanliness, and calibration of laboratory equipment to ensure accurate test results.
• Keep the laboratory clean at all times.
• Assist other technicians or production personnel during free time with tasks such as filing, preparing reagents, and checking inventory supplies.
• Complete special projects and other duties as assigned by Lead Hand or Management.
• Communicate with the technician on the next shift about any issues affecting product or scheduling and ensure all equipment and benches are clean before leaving the laboratory.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Chemistry, Food Science, Quality, or a related discipline.
• Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
• Proficiency in laboratory techniques and equipment.
• Knowledge of quality systems such as GMP, HACCP, and SQF, with certification being ideal.
• Ability to troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, SAP, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to analyze and solve problems effectively.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable to change.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in quality assurance, microbiology, and quality control.
• Understanding of batch records and biology.

Work Environment

This role is based in a laboratory and manufacturing setting, requiring continuous standing or walking. The position involves repetitive tasks and requires regular attention to detail. There is significant pressure from deadlines, production quotas, and accuracy demands. Shift: Monday-Friday: 10pm-6:30am

This is a Contract position based out of Tampa, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
