Overview

Senior Research Scientist (Finance) – Performs a comprehensive set of lab and/or field experiments which require competency with standard, advanced, and in-lab devised scientific techniques and equipment in disciplines such as molecular biology, microbiology, genomics, physiology, and pathology/microscopy. Work also includes contribution to the design, execution, troubleshooting, and analysis of the experiments, based on the short- and long-term goals of funded research or preliminary data required to obtain such funding.

Modifications to, and analysis of, the methods and results is expected to be based on a high level of familiarity with the underlying principles and an understanding of the published literature, and are conducted independently. Analysis of results may require acquiring or developing new analytical and presentation methods. This position requires a Bachelor s degree in a natural, physical or medical science with 5 years of experience.

Responsibilities and contributions include:

  • 30% Provides data or figures of publication quality for manuscripts or grants.
  • 30% Supervision of other members of the laboratory, such as Research Scientists and Advanced Research Scientists, is expected. Serve as a resource for most of the techniques utilized in the laboratory.
  • 20% Helps with some project management, experimental design, and grant writing.
  • 15% Helps with general lab maintenance and compliance.
  • 5% Maintains logs and records of laboratory techniques, observations, findings, and results.
