Senior Vice President of Research and Conservation
Clearwater Marine Aquarium is looking for a Senior Vice President of Research and Conservation to lead its research institute and conservation education initiative.

Responsibilities- Lead national and international research policy activities and guide CMA in defining and meeting emerging research and conservation opportunities and needs.
- Promote interdisciplinary and cross‑disciplinary research, coordinate research and conservation messaging with the education department, and affirm the integrity of research processes and policies.
- Provide stewardship of the infrastructure necessary for research leadership; establish national and international collaborative research partnerships.
- Participate in federal and state research‑related policy making and coordinate activities that promote participation of a broad range of individuals in research and conservation.
- Promote CMARI in the scientific research community and articulate its mission, vision, and values to the public.
- Be the face of CMARI to the public and advocate for CMARI research activities with lobbyists, federal organizations, and government agencies.
- Serve as an integral part of the Leadership Team for CMA, working closely with CMA leadership to integrate the research and conservation arm of CMA within educational missions.
- International recognition as a seasoned researcher.
- Experience providing input into research policy at the state, federal, national, and international levels.
- Extensive research background related to marine animals—including Eubalaena, cetaceans, sirenians, pinnipeds, selachimorpha, and chelonioidea.
- Demonstrated leadership in oversight of research organizations with at least 10 years supervising research teams.
- Track record of sourcing funding to conduct research for yourself and the teams you supervise.
- Recognition as a published writer in professional journals and scientific publications.
Clearwater Marine Aquarium is a working animal hospital that rescues and provides advanced care for marine life. The organization has been a leader in marine conservation for over 50 years, with programs such as dolphin dorsal‑fin photo identification, sea‑turtle conservation, and collaboration with international partners for manatee and whale research.
