Summary

The Moffitt Cancer Center Flow Cytometry Core (FCC) seeks an experienced Flow Cytometry Research Specialist. The core provides advanced flow cytometry services to investigators focused on cancer biology, immunology, and translational research.

We look for a professional who thrives in a service‑oriented environment and is passionate about enabling high‑impact scientific discoveries. The role will initially be located at the Magnolia Campus and will transition to Speros in Land O’Lakes in mid‑July 2026. Work hours may be flexible and occasionally outside the typical 08:30–17:00 window.

Ideal Candidate

• Meticulous, excellent communicator, works collaboratively on diverse research projects.
• Adaptable to a flexible schedule.
• Proficient in operating flow cytometry analyzers and sorters, with strong fundamentals.
• Master’s degree in a related core field and experience in a multi‑user core facility preferred.
• Certification such as SCYM, ICCE, or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate daily multi‑user core facility, including QC, maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs.
• Operate modern flow cytometers and cell sorters (conventional and full‑spectrum).
• Analyze flow cytometry data and assist researchers in interpreting results.
• Provide hands‑on training and ongoing support for instrument operation, experimental design, panel development, and software.
• Collaborate with investigators to design and optimize experiments tailored to their needs.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards to maintain reliable, reproducible results.

Credentials and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Immunology, Biochemistry, Physics, or related life science field; at least 5 years of relevant science experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of direct flow cytometry experience, including at least 2 years in basic science or translational research.
• Experience with full‑spectrum/ spectral flow cytometry highly preferred.
