Research Scientist, Clinical Research, Research Assistant/Associate
Summary
Research Associate I responsible for performing basic biological, behavioral, social science or public health research within the specified research program. The role provides technical and analytical support for various research programs across all Moffitt divisions and may have administrative and training responsibilities as assigned. The position reports to the Principal Investigator and works as part of a team under the supervision of senior lab personnel.
ResearchFocus
The Perna Lab investigates how genetic and molecular abnormalities alter the cancer surface proteome to develop next‑generation therapies, particularly immune‑based treatments targeting cell‑surface antigens in hematologic malignancies. Recent work includes the discovery of novel immunotherapeutic targets for multiple myeloma and the development of SEMA4A‑directed CAR T‑cell therapies.
Responsibilities- Plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships; communicate clearly verbally and in writing.
- Maintain laboratory equipment in a clean and working order, including coordinating instrument standardization documented by written report.
- Reorder stock laboratory supplies when depleted under appropriate supervision.
- Contribute to preparation of manuscripts, grants, administrative and research compliance documents as directed.
- Collect, organize, and permanently document data in physical and electronic formats.
- Analyze data using standardized procedures and protocols under minimal supervision.
• Bachelor’s degree in science (molecular biology or related field) required; prior research training experience preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to plan and coordinate work.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Salary RangeSalary ranges posted for this position represent the expected base pay range for the role. Actual compensation may vary based on location and a variety of job‑related factors, including experience, skills, education, and internal equity among Team Members in similar positions.
