Project Controls Analyst

Working from our Tampa office as part of our Finance Department, the Project Controls Analyst will support multiple geotechnical and construction services projects. The Project Controls Analyst is responsible for planning, monitoring, and controlling project financial performance using Deltek VantagePoint. This role partners with Project Managers, Accounting, and Contracts to ensure projects are set up correctly, costs are recorded accurately, forecasts are reliable, and billing complies with FAR, contract, and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Project Set-up and Structure

  • Set up and maintain projects in Deltek VantagePoint, from qualified opportunities to contract close-out including:
  • Contract structure (phases, tasks, work breakdown structure)
  • Labor categories, billing terms, and revenue methods
  • Budget, fee, and funding allocations
  • Ensure project structures align with:
  • Contract requirements (DOT, FAR, IDIQ, CPFF, T&M, FP)
  • Company accounting standard operating procedures and disclosure practices

Cost & Schedule Control

  • Monitor project performance against budget, fee, and funding
  • Track labor, reimbursable and non-reimbursable costs at the phase/task level
  • Analyze cost variances, burn rates, and estimate-to-complete (ETC)
  • Support earned value or progress tracking where applicable

Forecasting & Financial Analysis

  • Maintain accurate project forecast
  • Review and validate PM inputs for:
  • ETC and EAC
  • Revenue and margin projections
  • Identify risks, trends, and corrective actions early

Billing & Revenue Support

  • Support monthly billing processes:
  • Review labor, and reimbursable costs
  • Validate billing caps, rates, and funding limits
  • Assist with:
  • Certified payroll support (as applicable)
  • Revenue recognition and WIP analysis

Reporting & Dashboards

  • Develop and maintain standard and custom VantagePoint reports
  • Support PMs and leadership with clear, actionable financial insight

Compliance & Audit Support

  • Ensure compliance with:
  • Contract billing requirements
  • Internal controls and company policies
  • Support internal and external audits
  • Assist with documentation related to timekeeping and cost allowability
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years project controls experience in engineering services company or closely related
  • Microsoft Excel and SharePoint proficiency
  • Strong ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning system) experience
  • Ability to communicate with both internal staff and external clients professionally and promptly
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organization skills and detail orientation
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Earned Value tools, resource management and project productivity
  • Deltek VantagePoint proficiency
  • DOT experience
  • Engineering Services contracts experience
