Position SummaryAssistant Store Managers are the heart and soul of the Lids brand, fostering passion for sporting and fashion goods by meeting customer needs and ensuring every store area is engaged. Assistant Store Managers are accountable for all aspects of retail store performance, including achieving key results, creating a fun and inclusive team environment, and delivering exceptional customer service.
PrincipleDuties & Responsibilities – People & Training
- Act as Manager on duty for employee scheduling issues, customer complaints, etc., when Store Manager is not present.
- Manage store associates through LIDS Training Programs, goal setting, and regular follow‑up.
- Administer progressive discipline steps, including verbal and written warnings, in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Engage team members to create a fun and productive environment and help them see how their work supports company objectives.
- Create a respectful and inclusive team environment by establishing supportive working relationships and adhering to Lids Brand Standards.
- Schedule and staff the store, calling in associates for unexpected peaks when the Store Manager is not present.
- Participate in LIDS Training Programs, adhere to set goals, and conduct regular follow‑up.
- Assist in recruiting and training store personnel on proper operations and procedures.
- Ensure store associates comply with company policies, including safekeeping inventory, funds, and property.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Lead, execute, and assist in Lids selling strategy to achieve KPI sales targets and deliver exceptional customer service.
- Resolve customer feedback and address issues in the moment, including escalations and urgent requests.
- Encourage participation in Lids membership programs or special in‑store offers during live interactions.
- Adhere to current visual guidelines, including correct merchandising, signage, and store cleanliness.
- Maintain a professional appearance consistent with the Company Dress Code.
- Execute company‑level directives, promotions, and initiatives from Lids HQ.
- Follow Policies & Procedures Manual to maintain a safe work environment.
- Maintain store technology and equipment – MPOS, Lids Custom, etc. – through daily audits, updates, and repairs.
- Manage store facility supplies through service requests, repair work orders, and replenishment.
- Manage cash accurately, including opening and closing the till, using counterfeit protection practices, and making bank drops.
- Prepare store for inventory audits and support inventory audits as needed.
- Open and close the store following procedures in the Operations P&P Manual.
- Protect company assets per LIDS Retail policies.
- Assist in creating cover schedules that meet wage control guidelines.
- Manage inventory accurately: receiving, transferring, pricing, and conducting product counts.
- Organize backroom strategically to maximize efficiency.
- Execute optimal layout and visual merchandising, including storing activation, hardware, and mannequin adjustments.
