Parts Counter Person
The Parts Counter Person is responsible for assisting retail guests, service technicians, and dealership staff in identifying, locating, ordering, and distributing Harley-Davidson motorcycles parts, accessories, apparel, and related merchandise. This role ensures accurate parts selection, efficient inventory management, and exceptional guest service while supporting dealership profitability and guest satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist guests in identifying and purchasing Harley-Davidson parts, accessories, and related products.
- Support service technicians by supplying parts needed for repairs, maintenance, and warranty work.
- Research parts using Harley-Davidson catalogs, electronic parts systems, and dealership management software.
- Process parts orders, special orders, returns, exchanges, and warranty claims accurately.
- Provide pricing, availability, and estimated delivery information to guests and staff.
- Receive, inspect, stock, and organize incoming parts shipments.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with cycle counts and inventory audits.
- Follow up on back-ordered parts and communicate status updates to guests and service personnel.
- Promote and recommend genuine Harley-Davidson parts and accessories that enhance motorcycle performance, safety, and appearance.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional parts counter and storage area.
- Collaborate with sales, service, and motor clothes departments to maximize guest satisfaction.
- Handle guest inquiries and resolve concerns in a professional and timely manner.
- Follow all dealership policies, Harley-Davidson standards, and safety procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by dealership management.
Work Environment
This position operates in a fast-paced Harley-Davidson dealership environment with frequent interaction among guests, service technicians, sales staff, vendors, and management. Moderate noise levels, regular movement of parts inventory, and occasional weekend and event participation may be required.

Requirements
Qualifications
- Excellent guest service and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Basic mechanical knowledge of motorcycles preferred.
- Ability to accurately identify and research parts information.
- Strong computer proficiency and ability to learn dealership software systems.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment.
- Professional appearance and positive attitude.
- Passion for motorcycles and the Harley-Davidson lifestyle preferred.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous motorcycle, powersports, automotive parts, or dealership experience preferred.
- Harley-Davidson parts experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience using dealership management systems (DMS) and parts catalog systems is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to operate computer systems, inventory equipment, and office machinery.
- Ability to move throughout the dealership, warehouse, and service department as needed.
