Food Sales East is seeking a strategic, people focused Director of Sales Development to strengthen sales performance, elevate team capability, and support client success across the South Florida market. In this role, you will lead and coach sales team members, oversee PTC planning cycles, support new hire onboarding, and help ensure that both clients and customers receive best in class engagement from FSE.
LocationThis role supports the Tampa, Florida market. The ideal candidate resides within the region and is able to work in a hybrid capacity, including occasional work at our Tampa office for collaboration, meetings, or training.
What You’ll Do- Lead and manage sales team members aligned to assigned customer groups, including distribution partners or specific market segments (i.e. noncommercial)
- Oversee the sales planning process, ensuring the team is fully prepared to exceed client expectations every cycle
- Manage and deliver new hire training, ensuring new sales reps understand FSE clients, sales processes, planning tools, and selling expectations
- Support account management by partnering with the Market Leader to ensure Market Maker accounts are assigned, called on, and effectively targeted
- Coordinate client work withs in partnership with the Market Leader to ensure productive, well balanced engagement for both clients and the sales team
- Manage local client relationships (Client Development) and assist national Client Development with communicating initiatives to the local level, ensuring that the sales team has the tools they need to execute against client initiatives.
- Conduct PEP performance reviews in a timely, objective manner
- Champion FSE’s culture and values through your leadership, communication, and day to day decision making
- Maintain strong standing and review scores with key distribution partners
- Complete all sales planning cycles on time, with direct reports meeting required planning metrics
- Actively support and participate in new hire and product specific training programs
- Demonstrate FSE Values and Fundamentals by “leading out front” with the sales team and strengthening FSE’s reputation in the market
- Proven leadership experience within sales, preferably in food service brokerage, distribution, or manufacturing
- Strong coaching, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to analyze performance data and coach teams using CRM dashboards and planning tools
- High degree of self motivation and capability to excel in an unstructured work environment
- Comfort with travel, food shows, and occasional product handling (reasonable accommodations available)
