Job DescriptionThe Senior Automation Product Specialist – Power Specialist (VFD, MCC, Gear) is responsible for assisting outside sales to drive sales of automation products and solutions to customers. The role involves understanding the features and benefits of the products, providing product knowledge, addressing customer inquiries, building strong customer relationships, identifying needs, and recommending the most suitable products and solutions to meet those needs.
Responsibilities- Meet or exceed sales goals for assigned technology offers.
- Develop sales strategies, promotions, programs, and plans for sales growth.
- Set annual performance goals, objectives, and sales action plans.
- Prepare periodic sales funnel and weekly sales reports.
- Provide technical support for internal and external customers via on‑site visits, phone, and email; troubleshoot products, locate technical documentation and specifications, assist product selection, and other related activities.
- Establish and maintain relationships with sales and customers to understand sales potential.
- Ascertain customer needs through visits, phone calls, and research.
- Collaborate with sales to create joint strategies and activities.
- Offer expert knowledge to inside sales teams to facilitate quoting, order entry, and order expediting.
- Create and deliver technical and commercial training for internal and external customers.
- Describe or demonstrate products to customers.
- Follow up on all business leads assigned by management, marketing, technical department, or supplier partners.
- Acquire, use, and continuously develop personal technical knowledge.
- Provide oral and/or written quotations, proposals, or estimates of prices, scope of work, terms, and delivery.
- Lead and support sales efforts with key targets, key customers, and key opportunities in assigned product and/or area/region.
- Mentor, train, and coach junior level team members.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- 10+ years of experience.
- Electrical distribution industry or related experience required.
- Valid driver’s license.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 4‑year bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Intermediate/advanced computer skills, specifically with Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, blueprints, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from small groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to practice good interpersonal relations, using tact, courtesy, a positive attitude toward customers and co‑workers, pleasant communication etiquette, and a general attitude as a representative of goodwill on behalf of the company.
- Ability to develop and present specialized instruction concerning the specific high‑tech equipment in the assigned area of responsibility.
