Overview

This role’s primary function is to build relationships with customers and help support the sale of Gerdau product(s) to our customers, contributing to revenue generation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish rapport, trust, and strong relationships with customers through face‑to‑face meetings, representing Gerdau and understanding their business needs. The role involves calling the current book of business and identifying new customer opportunities across the territory. Approximately 70% of the time is spent on existing customers while no more than 30% explores new customers.
  • Establish a forecast for 2‑3 months out based on customers’ needs for tons, using both volume and price data (15%).
  • Make decisions and analyze pricing with customers to determine appropriate discounts or rebates based on customer size, strategic impact, and order volume (5%).
  • Collaborate with Inside Sales, Customer Service, Fulfillment, and Marketing groups to ensure customers are submitting and accepting orders (10%).
  • Accountable for sales and volume within a specific territory and product line(s). Maintain established sales goals/quotas (volume, forecast accuracy, price) for up to 10,000 tons per month, with mix varying by territory and product.
Qualifications

Two to five years of sales experience and a four‑year degree from an accredited college or university.

Preferred experience:

  • Steel, metals manufacturing, commodities pertaining to the steel industry, metals distribution/service centers, general manufacturing (industrial, automotive).
  • Steel piling products.

Preferred degree focus:

  • Business with Sales and Marketing emphasis.
  • Engineering or Material Sciences.
Metrics for Success
  • Forecast accuracy.
  • Meeting volume/tons and price revenue goals.
  • Developing strong relationships with customers while balancing Gerdau’s needs.
