Area Sales Manager – Specialty Construction

Industry: Specialty / Heavy Civil Construction
Location: Florida
Reports To: VP – Sales

Position Overview

ICOP is seeking a motivated, relationship-driven Area Sales Manager to lead business development and sales efforts throughout the South Florida market. This position will focus on developing new business, expanding relationships with existing clients, identifying project opportunities, and positioning ICOP as a preferred specialty construction partner.

The role will work closely with owners, developers, general contractors, construction managers, engineers, and other industry partners
, as well as ICOP’s estimating, engineering, and operations teams, to identify opportunities, develop solutions, and secure profitable work.

The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of the construction industry, an established network of industry relationships within Florida, and a proven ability to develop business and build long-term client relationships
. Specific geotechnical experience is beneficial but not required. ICOP’s technical teams will support the Area Sales Manager in developing project-specific geotechnical solutions.

Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Client Engagement
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with general contractors, construction managers, owners, developers, engineers, and other key industry partners
  • Leverage existing industry relationships and develop new contacts to expand ICOP’s presence throughout South Florida
  • Identify projects and opportunities early in the planning, design, preconstruction, and bidding phases
  • Develop relationships with key decision-makers and understand client organizations, procurement processes, and upcoming project pipelines
  • Generate and qualify new project opportunities aligned with ICOP’s capabilities and strategic objectives
  • Maintain regular contact with key accounts and develop long-term client relationships
  • Represent ICOP at client meetings, industry organizations, conferences, networking events, and other business development activities
  • Develop a working knowledge of ICOP’s capabilities and effectively communicate the company’s value proposition to clients
  • Understand construction plans, specifications, schedules, procurement methods, and overall project requirements
  • Work closely with estimating, engineering, and operations teams to evaluate opportunities and develop competitive solutions
  • Participate in bid/no-bid decisions, pursuit strategy, scope development, value engineering, and commercial discussions
  • Coordinate proposal development and participate in client presentations and interviews
  • Maintain client involvement throughout the pursuit process and assist in negotiating scope, pricing, and commercial terms
  • Facilitate the transition of awarded projects from sales and estimating to operations
Market & Strategic Development
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the Florida construction market
    , including major contractors, owners, developers, engineers, upcoming projects, and competitors
  • Identify emerging market sectors, geographic opportunities, and strategic accounts
  • Develop account plans for key clients and establish strategies for increasing ICOP’s market share
  • Track major projects from early planning through procurement and award
  • Provide market intelligence and client feedback to company leadership
  • Maintain accurate and timely CRM information regarding clients, contacts, opportunities, and pursuits
Qualifications
Required
  • 5+ years of experience in construction, construction sales, business development, estimating, project management, or a related role
  • Strong general knowledge of the construction industry and how projects progress from planning and design through procurement and construction
  • Established relationships within the Florida construction market , preferably with general contractors, construction managers, owners, developers, engineers, or other key industry participants
  • Demonstrated ability to develop relationships, generate opportunities, and grow business
  • Strong understanding of construction documents, project delivery methods, schedules, scopes of work, and commercial considerations
