Environmental Scientist II
- Air Division

Performs professional and technical duties in an environmental laboratory or in the field.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in a Physical or Natural Science; and
- Two or more years of experience in environmental protection or control, or environmental laboratory analysis; and
- Possession of a valid Driver's License.
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-specific competencies noted below.

Job Specific
Competencies:
- Considerable knowledge of laboratory analysis methods and procedures.
- Considerable knowledge of environmental pollutants sampling and testing.
- Working knowledge of Federal, State, and local environmental control and mitigation laws and regulations.
- Skill in the use and operation of laboratory equipment.
- Ability to use a computer and related software.
- Ability to conduct and interpret chemical laboratory test results.
- Ability to use and maintain laboratory equipment.
- Ability to work effectively with others.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Representative Duties:
- Installs, modifies, calibrates, tests, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs, at the component level, diversified electronic equipment and associated subassemblies utilized in operations such as voice and data communications, air quality monitoring, water/wastewater plant and pumping station controlling, traffic signal control, TV and video monitoring, and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) navigation aids.
- Designs, constructs, assembles, and rearranges circuits and performs other modifications to operation and test equipment, exhibits and other devices.
- Collects, logs, and records data and readings and prepares reports as needed.
- Monitors the operation of measuring equipment and controls to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies standards and specifications.
- Orders parts and supplies as required.
- Drives vehicles to remote locations to deliver, pickup, install and/or troubleshoot equipment problems.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires bending, climbing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching at ground levels, standing for long periods of time, and eye and hand coordination.
- Required to work outside in a subtropical climate under adverse weather, and high noise levels.
- Must be able to lift and carry equipment and tools approximately 50lbs.
