RK&K is seeking an experienced Environmental Project Manager - Natural Resources - to join our Florida team. In this leadership role, you will manage environmental permitting, natural resource assessments, ecological studies, and regulatory compliance efforts for transportation, water resources, utility, and site development projects throughout Florida. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and regulatory agencies, you will lead projects through Florida's complex environmental permitting process while providing strategic guidance on natural resource and ecological issues.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned environmental professional with expertise in wetland sciences, protected species, permitting, environmental compliance, and natural resource management who is looking to lead projects, mentor staff, and support the growth of RK&K's environmental practice. This position is ideal for a professional who enjoys combining technical excellence with client development and market growth.

Essential Functions
  • Lead business development, marketing, client account management, and proposal pursuits to support continued growth of RK&K's Natural Resources Practice in Florida.
  • Manage natural resources, environmental permitting, and ecological compliance projects from proposal through successful completion.
  • Serve as a project manager and technical lead for environmental assessments, permitting efforts, and resource evaluation studies.
  • Develop permitting strategies and coordinate environmental reviews for transportation, water resources, utility, and land development projects.

  • Manage permit applications, environmental documentation, and regulatory compliance activities.
  • Provide technical leadership for wetlands, protected species, habitat assessments, mitigation planning, and ecological studies.
  • Conduct QA/QC reviews and ensure high-quality project delivery.
  • Mentor and develop junior staff while supporting practice growth.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Natural Resources, Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, or a related field.
  • 10 years of experience in natural resources consulting, environmental permitting, ecological assessments, or environmental compliance.
  • Experience developing strategic growth initiatives and supporting annual business development objectives.
  • Proven track record of leading pursuits, preparing successful proposals, participating in interviews, and winning new work.
  • Demonstrated project management experience overseeing environmental and natural resource projects.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations, including the Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, NEPA, and Florida environmental permitting requirements.
  • Experience conducting and managing wetland, wildlife, habitat, and ecological resource studies.
  • Proven experience coordinating with agencies such as FDEP, USACE, USFWS, FWC, and Water Management Districts.
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and project management skills.
  • Experience developing project scopes, schedules, budgets, and permitting strategies.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with ArcGIS/GIS applications.
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • 15+ years of experience in natural resources, environmental permitting, ecological consulting, or related fields.
  • Professional certifications such as:
    • Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS)
    • Certified Wildlife Biologist (CWB)
    • Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP)
    • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP)
    • Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Florida protected species survey experience and related agency authorizations.
  • FWC Gopher Tortoise Authorized Agent or Mechanical Excavation Permit.
  • Experience leading environmental permitting efforts for FDOT, municipal, utility, or water resource projects.
  • Graduate degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Natural Resources, Biology, or a related discipline.
  • Advanced GIS, habitat modeling, or ecological data analysis experience
