We are seeking a professional and dependable Reception / Facility Security Officer (FSO) to provide a welcoming first point of contact for all visitors and employees while ensuring compliance with all physical, CUI, and personnel security protocols required by the Department of Defense (DoD) and company policy.
This dual-role position is critical in maintaining the safety, security, and smooth operation of our headquarters facility.
- Serve as the primary security presence at the headquarters’ reception area, greeting employees, executives, clients, and visitors professionally and courteously.
- Greet and check in visitors, ensuring compliance with access control procedures.
- Verify identification and security clearance credentials in accordance with DoD and company policy.
- Maintain visitor logs and issue badges in accordance with security protocols.
- Coordinate with internal contacts for meetings and guest access.
- Handle incoming calls and direct them appropriately.
- Serve as escort for visitors, contractors, etc. when necessary.
- Maintain a secure and orderly front desk area; screen and deliver mail, packages, and deliveries as necessary.
- Support administrative tasks such as office supplies, safety equipment inspections, etc.
- Manage and implement the National Industrial Security Program (NISP) in accordance with the NISPOM, 32 CFR Part 117.
- Maintain personnel security records (JPAS/DISS, etc.).
- Assist with onboarding of new personnel by issuing access credentials, badging employees, and briefing on HQ security policies.
- Assist in issuing and tracking facility keys, badges, and other access tools.
- Submit personnel for background investigations and monitor clearance status.
- Conduct self‑inspections, prepare for Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) audits.
- Train employees on security awareness and insider threat requirements.
- Enforce access control protocols, including managing visitor check‑ins, issuing badges, and maintaining visitor logs via electronic systems.
- Enforce badge policy and physical access controls for classified and restricted areas.
- Investigate security incidents and coordinate reporting with DCSA as necessary.
- Manage secure document control and safeguarding procedures, including support for CUI and data with DoD distribution statement markings.
- Establish and maintain relationships with Building Management security and local law enforcement. Serve as the liaison between HQ and those entities.
- Monitor facility access points and camera systems.
- Provide support during emergency situations, including evacuations, medical emergencies, weather warnings, fire, etc., following established procedures. Include coordinating and collaborating on emergency‑related drills and training events.
- Act as a liaison with emergency responders in the event of an incident.
- Support facility emergency preparedness drills and response protocols.
- Operate and monitor security systems, including surveillance cameras, access control systems, duress alarms, and communication radios.
- Respond promptly and professionally to security incidents, alarms, or emergencies (unauthorized access, suspicious activity, fire, or medical incidents), documenting all occurrences thoroughly.
- High school diploma or GED required, some college preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in a corporate, government, or defense environment, with some office administrative and/or security related experience.
- Prior experience in a high‑visibility, public‑facing role strongly preferred.
- Experience with DoD security procedures and familiarity with NISPOM, including policy and program development.
