Security Officer I at Tampa General Hospital are required to utilize a safety‑centric mindset with a focus on customer service skills. This role provides a safe, pleasant and customer‑friendly environment while enforcing hospital policy, documenting security related incidents, conducting traffic control, assisting patients and visitors with simple vehicle malfunctions, and performing physical security rounds on local TGH facilities. Responsibilities also include infant and newborn unit security, responses to various incidents, facility lockdown events, storing and logging patient valuables, responding to emergency codes, providing a security presence in the Level I trauma center, and applying restraints to violent or dangerous patients as required.

• Provide a safe, pleasant and customer‑service friendly environment.
• Enforce hospital security policy and document incidents.
• Conduct traffic control and assist patients/visitors with vehicle malfunctions.
• Perform security rounds on local TGH facilities.
• Assist in infant and newborn unit security.
• Participate in incident responses and facility lockdown events.
• Store and log patient valuables.
• Respond to emergency codes and provide presence in Level I trauma center.
• Apply restraints to violent or dangerous patients as required.
• Perform duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital.

• High school diploma or G.E.D preferred.
• Current Florida driver license.
• Must obtain Florida Security license (Class "D"), de‑escalation certification (MOAB, CPI, etc.) and Basic Life‑Saving CPR/AED within six months of hire.
• Must obtain Basic International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) certification within one year of hire.
