Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday

Shift: 5:00 PM – 1:00 AM

Position Overview

SMI is currently seeking an experienced and dependable Security Officer to join our team at a senior apartment community located in the Coral Springs area. The Security Officer will be responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for residents, visitors, and staff.

The ideal candidate will be highly professional, detail-oriented, reliable, and able to provide excellent customer service while ensuring safety procedures and security protocols are followed. This position requires someone who is comfortable working independently, utilizing computer systems, completing reports, and responding appropriately to emergency situations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Monitor and patrol the property to maintain a safe and secure environment.
  • Provide a visible security presence while delivering excellent customer service to senior residents, guests, and staff.
  • Observe, identify, and report suspicious activity, safety concerns, or policy violations.
  • Respond quickly and professionally to emergencies, alarms, incidents, and resident requests.
  • Assist emergency personnel when needed and follow established emergency procedures.
  • Monitor security cameras, access points, and building activity.
  • Control and document visitor access according to property guidelines.
  • Conduct routine inspections of the property, common areas, and surrounding grounds.
  • Maintain accurate daily activity reports, incident reports, and required documentation.
  • Use computer systems to complete reports, emails, logs, and other administrative duties.
  • Communicate effectively with property management and SMI leadership.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling resident-related matters.
  • Perform additional security-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Previous security officer experience required.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent observation skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and organized during emergency situations.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Computer proficient with the ability to learn and utilize security software and reporting systems.
  • Must demonstrate strong reliability, punctuality, and attendance.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
  • Professional appearance and positive attitude.
Employment Requirements
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to work the assigned schedule consistently.
  • Must successfully complete required background screening and employment verification processes.
  • Must meet all company and client requirements.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to conduct routine property patrols.
  • Ability to respond quickly during emergency situations.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with residents, visitors, staff, and emergency personnel.
