Monitor, Campus Safety

Summary:

The Campus Safety Monitor will provide security and safety services for the school campus, protecting the wellbeing of students, staff, and visitors. The Campus Safety Monitor will perform duties under the general supervision of an immediate supervisor, who evaluates performance through observation of work, periodic conferences, critiques, and/or records or reports.

Responsibilities:
Specific duties and responsibilities include ensuring proper control of authorized access to an assigned school site, patrolling school buildings, facilities, and grounds to ensure the presence of only authorized persons within school's perimeter, observing student behavior before, during, and after school hours for the purpose of ensuring appropriate behavior, reporting disturbances, and resolving minor altercations, engaging students who are not in class during school session to ensure appropriate authorization to be outside the classroom;

taking corrective action accordingly, identifying and reporting any safety or security issues to school administration; assisting in resolving such issues when appropriate within scope of capabilities, assisting school staff with maintaining order and protocol during regular school activities (e.g., hall monitor, lunchroom duty, bus arrivals/departures, parent pickup), escorting school visitors/parents to appropriate destinations, when appropriate and/or necessary, and performing any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job successfully.

Education:

A high school diploma or GED. Degree or formal training in security preferred.

Experience:

One (1) year of work experience. Security experience preferred. Verified college experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis for each year of the experience requirement. Certificates/Licenses/Registrations:
