Summary / Responsibilities
  • Perform point-to-point wiring of cabinets, chassis, panels, cable installation, and full flight simulator systems wiring on board and off board, installing, and securing cabling under raised floors and up on ladder racks. Build complex cable assemblies.

  • You will basically do all the wiring in a full motion aircraft simulator that is built for the military. This is a hands-on working position; it is not only a bench job.
  • This position involves traveling about half of the year. Maybe more, maybe less. All over the world. Sometimes with very short notice, sometimes from one site directly to the next without stopping home. You need to be able to travel extensively. Most trips are about 3–4 weeks for installs, but some are longer, some may only be 1–2 days.
  • You will be working 60 hours, 6 days a week when traveling (Mon–Sat). Time and a half after 40 hours, sometimes rotating shifts.
  • Company provides travel resources:
    Corporate American Express card, laptop, and all tools needed.
  • Company pays per diem for travel meals and incidentals (non-taxable): approximately $59–$79 CONUS, $62–$157 OCONUS.
  • Company pays travel expenses: airfare, rental car, tolls, parking, currency exchange fees, excess cell phone charges, and up to $30/week laundry for trips of 7+ days; pays for steel toe shoes/boots; passport and related renewals.
  • Read work orders, follow production and sample assemblies, diagrams, wire lists or verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed.
  • Assist with wire selection (colors, lengths), marking, looping wires on harness boards, and following color-coded lines or sequence numbers.
  • Assist with wire measurements, cutting, and wire marker installations and terminations in accordance with wire lists and workmanship standards.
  • Assist with wire installations in cabinets and trainer system wiring.
  • Learn and become proficient in performing error-free lug and contact pin crimping operations.
  • Learn and gain proficiency in fabrication of complete cable assemblies per wire lists.
  • Assist with connecting component lead wires to printed circuit assemblies and routing wires between components, connectors, terminals and contact points.
  • Perform wire continuity verification using a continuity tester.
  • Learn and gain proficiency with creation and application of wire or harness identification labels.
  • Assist with work assignments from trainer system hardware logs.
  • Assist with the selection and installation of cable harnesses and cable clamps; cable-tie harnesses and wire routing and layout.
  • Must have basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical hand tools and be able to use them effectively.
  • Basic understanding of military and commercial workmanship standards.
  • Willing and able to assume work assignments away from the facility for site installations and be willing to work rotating shifts.
  • Aptitude for learning from wire lists, assembly drawings, schematics, engineering orders and related procedures.
  • Basic computer skills for time reporting and work order processing.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence; present information in one-on-one settings.
