SummaryThe Technician 3, Electronics, will perform skilled technical duties in the installation, maintenance, and repair of various types of low voltage electronic equipment.
Responsibilities- Perform troubleshooting and maintenance repairs on data terminals, communication consoles, satellite receiver systems, base stations, remote control units, sirens, signals, alarms, and other low voltage electronic equipment.
- Maintain low voltage electronic equipment such as mobile and portable radios, data terminals, communication consoles, signals, alarms, office machines, and other devices in county vehicles including patrol cars, fire engines, trucks, and vans.
- Install low voltage electronic equipment in district buildings or field locations.
- Service and operate testing equipment such as oscilloscopes, radio test sets, and digital multimeters.
- Coordinate projects and tasks with school staff, including informing site personnel of material removal and scheduling student movements.
- Keep accurate inventory records of assigned service vehicles, tools, and equipment.
- Assist higher‑level technicians with repair and maintenance of electronic equipment.
- Use maintenance tools safely in accordance with district and OSHA regulations.
- Perform installation, maintenance, alteration, and repairs of low voltage components in district facilities.
- Operate hand and power tools for specific trade functions.
- Maintain safe use principles for equipment, tools, materials, and district vehicles.
- Clean up and restore work sites, removing excess materials, cleaning flooring, replacing furniture, and wiping surfaces.
- Respond to emergency call‑outs after hours.
- Attend required training to stay current with relevant technology.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.

- Experience:
Six years of increasingly responsible experience maintaining communication or low voltage systems, with one year of related management or supervisory experience. - Certificates/Licenses/Registrations:
Valid Florida Class E driver’s license and compliance with the district Safe Driver Plan; FCC General Radio Telephone license may be required. - Language
Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents; communicate with employees, regulators, and the public. - Mathematical
Skills:
Proficiency in basic algebra, geometry, and calculations of percentages, discounts, and volumes. - Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw conclusions, and interpret technical instructions. - Computer
Skills:
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Physical activities include standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, crawling, handling, keyboarding, speaking, hearing, and visual tasks.
Lifting demands: up to 55 pounds.
Reaching activities: both dominant and non‑dominant hand; overhead.
Environmental conditions:
noise up to level 4 (loud), extreme cold or heat, wet/humid conditions, use of cleaning chemicals (eye protection required), vibration/impact, and exposure to electrical shock.
Eligibility for interview requires successful completion of a written and/or physical test verifying knowledge of basic terms, tools, and their use.
